Dressing for a Summer Wedding
Summer is possibly the season when the most weddings are held. Fortunately, it is easy to dress up for a summer wedding. If you have been invited to one, here are a couple of pointers that can help you out.
1. Before shopping for an outfit, it would be best to research about the location where the wedding ceremony and reception would be held. The degree of summer heat and humidity can vary greatly from one place to another so by knowing exactly where the wedding would be held, you would know exactly what to expect, allowing you to decide on an outfit that would not only be appropriate for the event but also comfortable to be in no matter how hot the heat of the sun is.
2. Because you can pretty much expect higher temperatures during the summer, it would be best to steer clear of anything made with silk, as it can act as insulator making you feel even hotter. Instead, try to look for clothes which are made with lightweight fabrics and materials such as cotton or linen to help you stay as cool as possible.
3. If the invitation specifically states the attire for the event, be sure to follow it. If the invitation does not say anything about the required attire, make sure to go for dressy and not all-out formal. Some good options would be a sundress, twinset, a pair of sling-back pumps and some nice jewelry.
4. Lastly, remember to bring some sunglasses and sunscreen for an outdoor ceremony. You might also want to take along an umbrella to leave in the car so you would have adequate covering in the event a summer shower graces the occasion.
